Election briefings for potential candidates planned

Briefings are being held locally for people thinking of standing as a candidate or acting as an agent in the forthcoming West Northamptonshire unitary elections or parish council elections.

The events will cover the elections timetable and process as well as other arrangements, including absent voting, postal vote opening, and polling day and candidates' expenses.

The briefings, organised by Daventry District, Northampton Borough and South Northamptonshire Councils, will also be an opportunity to take the nomination papers away and ask any questions regarding the nomination and election process.

The first of these briefings will be held at The Forum, in Moat Lane, Towcester (NN12 6AD) on Thursday, 12 March at 6.30pm. The second will be at the civic offices in Lodge Road, Daventry (NN11 4FP) at 5.30pm on Monday, 23 March, with the third at The Guildhall, St Giles' Square (NN1 1DE) at 5.30pm on Wednesday, 25 March.

Elections for the West Northamptonshire unitary council take place on Thursday, 7 May 2020. Three councillors for each of the 31 electoral wards across West Northamptonshire will take on a five-year term of office.
